Mackay Animal Rescue Society Inc. is a registered charity and relies heavily on the generosity of the local community. Donations from the public at our collection spots is a large part of our resources. If you would like to help us and have a couple of hours spare once a week, fortnight or month we would love to hear from you.
There are many ways you can get involved with Mackay Animal Rescue Society Inc. By volunteering you will help us improve the outcomes for our rescue pets. We offer a number of ways you can be involved from fundraising and volunteering to becoming a foster carer for a homeless animal.
Should I be a Foster Carer?
The role of a foster carer is to give a temporary home to cats and dogs in care while actively assisting in finding a new forever home. To give your foster animal the best chance of finding a new home we require you to help with basic advertising and attending adoption days which is a very important part for the exposure of your foster to the public and for socialisation with other foster animals.
By completing our carer application form we can endeavour to match you with the right pet that suits your home and lifestyle requirements be it a cat or dog, big or small.
MARS covers all vet costs for the foster animal, carers just need to provide a safe place for them to stay, food and of course LOVE! When your foster finds their new home there is no greater feeling then knowing you helped save a life. Without foster carers, the majority of animals in the MARS adoption program would have had no second chance at a happy life.
If becoming a foster carer is something that you think you would like to do please complete the attached application and email to us at email@example.com
Mars adoption days are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9 am to 12 pm.
Dog adoption days are held at Petbarn at Mt Pleasant Greenfields and cat adoption days are held at Petstock on Mackay Bucasia Rd in North Mackay.
This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a new pet to come and meet our foster dogs and cats in one place as well as speaking to their foster carers and to learn more about fostering or volunteering.
We would love to hear from you if you think you would be able to help. If you have any particular skills or ideas or just want to know more about how you can offer your help please contact us or come along to one of our upcoming events.
